Popovich Panthers vs Marshall Sixers match report

Oct 06, 2015 09:37 PM | Popovich Panthers won by 140 runs | Scorecard

Panthers vs Sixers Match Report:

The Popovich Panthers marched on their biggest win of the season with a 131 run domination win over the Marshal Sixers.

The star of the show was Vikas Rajgopal, who scored an unbeaten 109 off just 39 balls, included 12 sixes and 5 boundaries. MS won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Panthers lost rookie Sohan early, but skipper Tarun Sandhu got them off to a flyer with a quickfire 32 off 18 balls. After Sandhu's exit, Vikas and Aayush Ghand build a solid partnership, with Aayush getting 31 off just 15 balls to add yet another solid performance to his rookie season. From their on, it was Vikas dominating the MS bowlers. The crowd was treated to some exquisitely timed shots including some power shots over the long boundary. The 100 for Vikas came up in the last over of the innings as he joins an elite list of few players who've reached a century milestone in this short 15 over version of the game. It was yet another bright spot for the Panthers as yet another batsman came roaring to form on this already formidable batting powerhouse. For the 3rd consecutive game PP scored in excess of 190 runs, ending up with a season high of 210 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Preetam Shingavi was the pick of the MS bowlers with 3 wickets.

Even more promising was the bowling effort from the Panthers, as Ankur Saxena started off with a wicket maiden in his first over. Gaurav Mathur, was in his usual rhythm and kept the pressure on the MS batsmen and picked up 3 wickets for just 7 runs. Mayur Shah, added on to his tally of wickets with another fine performance as he picked up 3 wickets as well. Veterans Vikrant and Kartik S. were the only players to reach double figures for the MS team. A valiant effort from the sixers but they were outmatched by Vikas' outrageous knock.

Former USC captain Vishal Shah, on a short visit to LA from mumbai, played as a guest for both teams and was warmly welcomed by the Trojan Cricket family.

The Panthers will look to close out the regular season with another strong performance next week, while the Sixers will look to regroup and bounce back from this disappointing game. Good luck and fight on..!
