Marshall Sixer's won the toss and elected to bowl first. Leavey Lions lost their opener Akshay Rajendraprasad in an unfortunate run out, but it wasn't to stop the Leavey onslaught for the next few overs. This assault was further aided by several drop catches by the fielders of Marshall Sixer's throughout the innings. Vidyadhara Rao K (37) and Ankit Sultania (28) took advantage of the conditions and dispatched balls out of the park. It was the captain,Faraaz Hussain, who came out with the breakthrough and got Ankit out to an edge to the keeper. The Marshall Sixer's bowlers then slowly steadied the innings and reduced the run rate of their opponents by getting wickets at regular intervals. Denver Bopaiah bowled a magnificent last over, giving away just 1 run and enforcing a wicket and 2 runouts. Shashank (33) was the only player who kept the Leavey Lions on par with their earlier run rate but got out trying to steal a run.
First innings score: 142/7
The Marshall Sixer's openers knew this was a challenging target and got off to a berserk start. Sai Charan Kilari (92) and Sahil Shakir (15) scored off almost every delivery for the first few overs and gave the Sixer's a dream start with the score being 70 after 3 overs. Charan posted the season's fastest 50 in just 15 balls! Leavey Lion's captain Sneh Kishan and Ankit Sultania took the first breakthroughs and got rid of the first two wickets in quick succession. But the game was almost done as Sai Charan continued his destruction and when he finally got out for 92, the game was almost in the bag for the Marshall Sixers. Denver Bopaiah and Aayush Ghand finished off the game with Akanksha Singh scoring the winning runs and giving Marshall Sixer's their third win of the season.
In spite of a great battle, there is a lot of room for improvement for both teams with half the season still to look forward to. Leavey Lions will look to win their next two games in order to qualify, whereas, the Marshall Sixer's will look to continue their run and cement a place in the top 4.
