It was an important match for both Annenberg Avengers and Marshall Sixers as both the teams needed this win badly to keep the momentum going. Avengers captain Charan Kilari won the toss and chose to field first. Sixers sent to bat first, were steady in their approach for first 2 overs wherein Sahil Shakir 12(9) has hit a few good shots and was looking in good touch after a half century in his previous match. Unfortunately, Sahil miscued a shot off K Pranav Shashidhar bowling and was caught inches from the long on boundary by Ashish Relan. Raghavendra Prasad who came in to bat at No.3 scored 2 big sixes and a four off Charan Kilari, but got out in the same over trying to be over ambitious. On the other side ranjit 16(27) was taking the odd singles here and there and kept the score board ticking. From hereon, sixers lacked a good partnership and began to collapse to some outstanding bowling from Ashish Relan and some beautiful catches from keeper Abhay Patil. Few knocks from Prabhjot 20(12) and Sibi Naayagam 14(10) took Sixers to a total of 109 in 18 overs. Ashish Relan (4-0-11-3) and Faisal Mallick (2-0-5-2) were pick of the bowlers for Avengers.
Even though with a low target of 110 on board, the chase for Avengers was not easy, especially after they lost their Captain Charan Kilari 1(2) in the very first ball of the second over by Mukul. Charan miscued a pull shot straight into the hands of Mandeep who was at mid wicket. Sixers bowlers Karan Sharma and Mukul were right in their targets and ensured that avengers had to work hard to score each and every run. Very soon, Shivkumar Nistala 5 (10) and Bharath 1(7) were sent back to pavilion. When things were looking difficult for avengers, walks in Ashish Relan, who was very sensible in approach. He knew his strengths and played patiently defending the good balls and sending some lose balls out of the park. There were a couple of wrong decisions against the Avengers, but Ashish Relans knock of 54(32) made sure Avengers were close to the target. Jeet Mody and Akshay Modi scored to a six each in the penultimate and last overs to take Avengers home. Karan Sharma (4-0-11-1) was the pick of the bowlers for Sixers.
Man of the Match: Ashish Relan was awarded the man of the match for his brilliant all round performance.
