KKR won the toss and elected to bat first. KKR openers batting sensibly mixing agression with caution and provided KKR with a solid start of 44 for no loss in 6 overs. Its then KKR lost Dushyant and the scoring dipped with CSK bowlers starting to put pressure on KKR bowling. In comes Abhimanyu Rajp , newly selected in 2nd round of auctions. He completely tore into CSK bowling and derailed the Chennai Express with his attacking strokeplay. He was ably supported by Ankur Saxena and KKR scored 75 in last 5 overs to put a solid 150 in 15 overs.

CSK had to bat with agression and intent if they were to get close to KKR's total and in Gaurav Nilakantan , they found the perfect man to lead the charge. He bludgeoned the KKR bowlers to all over the park and CSK were on course putting up 55 for no loss in first 5 overs. With power play over and field spread out the scoring dipped a bit for CSK and Gaurav was out to a blinder of a catch by KKR Substitute (Prathyay) and CSK faced an uphill battle from then on . Nimith and Abhinav batted really well to take CSK close but in the end CSK fell short by 16 runs.

Great Batting Display by Gaurav , Dushyant , Nimith but it was Abhimanyu who proved to be the game changer and earned man of the match for his allround performance !
